Crabb Brothers Could Meet in AVP's Final
The AVP put out its championship seeding on Wednesday, its first new word on the event since 27 August. Saturday is a YouTube stream, Sunday is CBS and The CW, and the prize money is still unpublished.
The AVP published the seeding for its season finale on Wednesday, and Taylor Crabb and Trevor Crabb are drawn to meet only in the men's final.
Miami Mayhem, with Taylor Crabb and Andy Benesh, is the top men's seed. Palm Beach Passion, with Trevor Crabb and Phil Dalhausser, is second, which puts the brothers in opposite halves.
Palm Beach holds the top women's seed as well, through Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson. Austin Aces are second with Taryn Brasher and Kristen Cruz, who took silver at the Montreal Elite16 in August.
Miami Mayhem are the third women's seed and Brooklyn Blaze the fourth, with Lexy Denaburg and Julia Donlin.
The AVP's league season ran from Las Vegas in June through Central Park, Long Beach and East Hampton to the Manhattan Beach Open in August. Chicago is the last stop on it.
The Progressive AVP League Championships run on 5 and 6 September at Oak Street Beach in Chicago, on the Lake Michigan shoreline over Labor Day weekend. Doors open at nine on both mornings.
Saturday's quarter-finals run from 10 a.m. Central, with the women's first semi-final at two and the men's at three, all of it on the AVP's own YouTube channel and none of it on linear television.
The other two semi-finals go out on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, women at 10 a.m. Central and men at 11. The CW then carries the women's final at 1 p.m. and the men's at 2.
Prize money is the one number the AVP has not printed anywhere we can reach. A season that began in June ends on network television on Sunday and nobody outside the league knows what the winners are playing for.
