Nebraska Sweeps No. 2 Texas in Vegas
The Huskers won 25-19, 25-19, 25-16, served seven aces to none and out-blocked Texas by better than two to one. It was the first regular-season meeting of the top two ranked teams since 2023.
Nebraska beat Texas 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-16) at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday afternoon, in the first regular-season match between the top two ranked teams in Division I women's volleyball since 2023.
Nate Sheridan of VolleyballMag, citing NCAA.com, put it as the 34th time the top two have met in a regular season, and the first since Nebraska played Wisconsin three years ago.
Texas came in 2-1 after beating No. 18 TCU 3-0 (30-28, 25-23, 25-23) on Saturday, three sets and three two-point margins. Nebraska came in 2-0 after sweeping UNLV the same night.
The Players Era Showcase put the two nights on consecutive days in a building that had never staged volleyball before this weekend. Sunday was the second one.
Serving decided it. Nebraska served seven aces and Texas served none, and Texas made eight service errors of its own, per On3. Texas hit .152 to Nebraska's .293.
Seven Aces to None Decided It
Nebraska put 38 kills on 82 swings against Texas's 33 on 79, and out-blocked Texas by better than two to one. Four columns separated these teams on Sunday and all four went the same way.

Jackson Hit .571 and Ogbechie Blocked Seven
Andi Jackson had nine kills on .571 hitting with two blocks. Manaia Ogbechie had seven kills and was credited with seven blocks, against four for the whole Texas team.
Harper Murray had eight kills and Teraya Sigler seven, and Bergen Reilly did the serving Jackson was describing. Cari Spears led Texas with 12 kills.
Nebraska's own account of the match puts its team block at ten and the Texas account puts it at 10.5. Either way Ogbechie's seven is most of it, and Texas finished with four.
Texas is 2-2, and both of its defeats have come against teams the August ballot ranked inside the top twelve. The two it won came against Marquette in five sets and No. 18 TCU in three.
Counting the exhibition in Arlington last week, Nebraska has now beaten the teams that ballot ranked second, eleventh and seventeenth, and has not taken the floor against Texas, SMU or Florida and lost a set.
