VNL 2027: WHAT RUSSIA’S RETURN CHANGES 🌍
FIVB confirmed its roadmap in early August: Russian national teams return to the Volleyball Nations League in 2027, ending a five-year absence, as the competition expands its field.
Start with the men. Russia's last VNL appearance ended in a title in 2019, and a returning roster built around its domestic Super League core walks back in as a top-eight caliber side. Somebody currently holding a Finals ticket loses one.
The women's picture is murkier — two generations of talent have cycled through with no international reps — but the pipeline that produced back-to-back Olympic finals never stopped producing club stars.
For the U.S. fan, two things change: the pool-play draw gets harder, and the 2027 VNL becomes a genuine world-championship preview. Qualification structures publish before the 2027 calendar drops.
