Jordan Larson Comes Back in December 👀
League One Volleyball opens its third season on 16 December at San Antonio's Frost Bank Center, the night before the NCAA semifinals start at the Alamodome, and Nebraska draws the club Larson retired against in April.
Jordan Larson's comeback has a date. LOVB Nebraska open the 2026-27 season against LOVB Austin at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Wednesday 16 December, and the league says the match will mark her return to professional competition.
The NCAA semifinals start at the Alamodome the following night and the championship match is on 20 December, per the Associated Press. LOVB has put its opener in the same city one day ahead of college volleyball's biggest week.
Austin are the two-time champions, led by finals MVP Madisen Skinner, and they are the last team Larson played.
She said goodbye after a five-set home defeat to them at Baxter Arena in Omaha on 4 April, aged 39, with 19 kills on the night and the first jersey LOVB Nebraska has ever retired.
Neither LOVB's announcement nor the Associated Press wire gives a start time, a broadcaster, or any word on what happens to that jersey.
Larson, in the statement her club put out on 10 July, three months after the ceremony that retired her number.
“This decision took time, and it came from a lot of honest reflection. I'm coming back because when I got still enough to truly listen, I realized the game wasn't done with me, and I wasn't done with it.
There is more in me, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to keep giving that to LOVB Nebraska.”
She is also a co-owner of LOVB Nebraska, so the club announcing her return is a club she part-owns. A league in its third season can hold both roles in one person. An older one could not.
The league goes to ten teams this year, with Los Angeles, Miami, Minnesota and San Francisco joining the six that already existed. Larson said goodbye to a six-team league and comes back to a ten-team one.
